Original project

Jonas Daehnert’s indexed Clamp Buddy listing describes a small filament clamp with an eyelet. The creator discusses PLA and longer-term stiffness of other materials, and notes a storage method that does not work with every automatic material system.

Inspect your setup

Check where the clip will sit when the spool is stored and where it must be removed before use. Include any automated feeder in that inspection. A clip that fits the spool off the printer is not automatically compatible with the whole loading path.

Use the material you need

A tiny helper may be a good use of material already on hand. Compare your own slicer estimate with available filament rather than buying a new spool for one small part. Follow the creator’s handling instructions for the eyelet and clamp.
