Use the estimate you actually have
Slice the model for your printer and selected settings first. Record the estimated material including any supports or purge that the slicer includes. Keep the model and profile version with the estimate so a later change can be compared fairly.
Use a consistent price basis
Divide the price paid for the filament by its net filament weight, not the weight of the spool and packaging. If you include tax or shipping, use that choice consistently. An existing spool still has a material cost even though today’s cash purchase may be zero.
Keep the scope honest
This calculator estimates material only. It does not predict failed prints, electricity, labor, equipment wear, or selling profit. Add those separately if you have evidence for them instead of hiding them inside an unexplained multiplier.
