Use the right reference

Prusa explains that many printing materials absorb moisture and recommends closed storage with desiccant. Drying is a separate process with material-specific limits. Do not copy one material’s temperature and time onto every spool.

Measure the complete spool

Record the outside diameter, width, and any space needed to remove it from the box. If storing several spools, include the gaps needed for access. Choose a container around the actual spools rather than assuming every nominal one-kilogram spool has identical dimensions.

Make a simple inventory

Keep the material label visible and record when a spool was opened. Separate any drying notes from color names. Use the container and desiccant instructions when maintaining the setup. A meter reading can be useful context, but it does not replace the spool maker’s process guidance.
